Railway goods shed. Mid C19, probably by Benjamin Green, for the York, Newcastle and
Berwick Railway Co. Rock-faced stone with raised ashlar dressings: Welsh
slate roof. Free Tudor style.
East elevation 2 bays. Chamfered plinth; large segmental-pointed arches in
alternating-block surrounds. Overhanging eaves on raking timber brackets;
coped gables on moulded kneelers, topped by ball finials. Returns each show
similar arch and boarded elliptical-arched gable opening under cornice; large
stepped buttress at east end. Rear elevation shows boarded door, two 2-light
mullioned windows holding 16-pane casements, and a large stepped buttress at
each end.
Rare example of an unaltered early goods shed; there is a similar one at
Acklington station.
