ST 71 NE STURMINSTER NEWTON BAGBER

4/69 Poplar Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse, possibly C16, extensive alterations in C18/19 and C20, Rubble,
brick (Flemish bond and Stretcher bond) and timber frame. Thatched roof,
half-hipped and gable ends. Stack quarter way in from north-east gable.
Gabled cross-wing. Single storey and attic.
C20 casements with glazing bars. Exposed timber framing at some gables. C20
porch. South-east gable is probably C18 rebuild to give appearance of double
pile plan. Said to have been re-roofed in C20. "RCHM, Dorset Vol III" HMSO
1970, p285 no 66.
