Farmhouse with attached cottages. C17 origin (RCHM), altered in late C18, C19
and C20. Buildings grouped round a courtyard with a wing (No.22) extending to
north. Farmhouse, forming south range of courtyard, has plastered walls showing
evidence of stone and flint banding. Tiled roof, hipped at right end; brick end
stacks. Panelled door rear right end, with fanlight, under portico with Tuscan
columns and flat entablature, with iron trellis infill. Ground floor has 3 sashes
with glazing bars. First floor has 4 similar windows. At left end a single storey
wing, of flint, with tiled roof, forms west range of courtyard. At right end, a
2-storeyed wing with walls of flint and brick banding, and tiled roof, forms
east range. Attached to house at left end, a cob garden wall with tiled capping.
At left end of this an attached granary has brick-nogged timber-framed walls and
2-hipped tiled roof with slate eaves courses. No.21, the north range has walls of
brick and flint banding, raised in brick, and tiled roof. 2 storeys. Door and all
windows C20. No.22, attached to courtyard group on north has walls of stone and
flint with some brick banding, tiled roof, and central brick stack. 2 storeys.
Ledged door in gabled timber porch on brick base. Ground floor has 2 casements
with glazing bars and one C20 casement. First floor has 2 casements with glazing
bars. Blocked doorway at left end. No.21 included for group value. RCHM Monument
