15/115 Nos 1 and 2, Oldens

II

Two houses. Early C18. Coursed and random rubble limestone;
ashlar and brick chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with
attic; single-storey with attic part at south end; rear wing to
No 1. Front: scattered timber casements, late C19 or C20 to No 1
but original to No 2 with heavy chamfered mullioned frames, all
with timber lintels. Doorway with timber lintel to right on each
house, that to No 1 with rendered gabled porch addition. Single
gabled roof dormer to each house, early iron casement to that on No
2. Three ridge-mounted chimneys, ashlar with moulded cap to No 2.
Plank door with small casement to right in lower part of No 2.
North end: 2 small stair lights with timber lintels in gable end.
Interior not inspected. Probably built as weaver's houses in
connection with the mills in the valley below.
