Built in C16 once owned by Clifford Shirreff ESQ c1800 & Previously John Strowbridge. The most recent owner on record is Martin L Burre ESQ who engaged architect David Highet of Dalwood Axminster in the 1980's and 90's to convert the stables into accommodation, added a tennis court, converted various parts into seperate accommodation and also added a recording studio to the barn.

The name of the house has evolved over the years firstly as Howberhayne House (see also Hoberhane ) and now Hooperhayne House.
