Detached house. Late C16 or early C17 with later alterations. Cob and stone mix,
roughcast, under gabled-end slate roof. Formerly a 3-room, cross-passage plan with
lower-end rear wing. Right-hand end stack (originally external) heats lower end;
axial stack backs on to passage and heats hall; brick shafts, rendered. 2 storeys.
Front: 5-window range, 2- and 3-light casement windows, C19 and C20 with C20 leading;
lattice-work porch with slate roof; left-hand elevation with 3- and 4-light casement
windows and one mid-C19 2-light pointed window to ground floor; rear with single-
storey lean-to and garage; C19 and C20 fenestration.
Interior: hall with 2 axial beams with elaborate composite moulding (wavy with fillet
and 3 rolls); fireplace replaced. Inner room with mainly renewed beams, but
retaining one original unstopped beam; lower end room, 2 cross-beams with cyma
reversa mouldings, the fireplace with chamfered stone jambs and ovolo-moulded timber
lintel. Roof, clean, principals pegged and morticed. This building is listed
primarily for its C16 and C17 carpentry detailing.
