SX 39 SE ST GILES ON THE HEATH EAST PANSON

House. Circa late C17/early C18 origins, C18 extension, C20 renovations and
additions. Whitewashed rendered cob on stone rubble footings, asbestos slate roof
gabled at ends, formerly thatched, end stacks, the right-hand stack massive and
projecting, end stack to rear wing.
T-plan house. The earliest part is probably the single depth main range, 2-rooms
wide with a central stair hall. Although the right-hand end was probably the
hall/kitchen the left-hand fireplace also has an oven. The rear wing is likely to be
an C18 parlour addition.
2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window front with off-centre C20 gabled porch with the
front door on the right return. 3-light casement windows, 2 panes per light with C20
diamond leading.
Interior Large open fireplace to the right-hand room with 1 stone rubble-and 1
granite jamb, a timber lintel and cloam oven, large exposed ceiling beams. Roofspace
not inspected but roof trusses may be of interest.
