House, later penny school and stables now house. Circa late C17. Rendered stone
rubble with cement-washed slate roof with gabled ends with higher cement-washed rag
slate roof with gabled ends to range on right. Large stone rubble projecting rear
lateral chimney stack with brick shaft to rear of left-hand range. Large stone
rubble stack on higher right-hand gable end. Plan altered. Entrance originally in
lower left-hand gable end, later blocked by erection of Shute Cottage (qv). Now 2-
room plan of single depth with C20 stair dividing rooms.
2 storeys, asymmetrical 2-window front. Lower range on left with C20 part glazed
porch near junction with Shute Cottage qv. Large 3-light C20 casement to right and
3-light C20 casement above in raking dormer. Range on right of 2 storeys and attic
with casements.
Interior with later chimney pieces to fireplaces. C19 and C20 ceiling beams. Roof
timbers to lower range with chamfered principals. Full roof structure not inspected.
Cobbled yard to front with right of way maintained for horse and cart. Site of
pallace or fish cellars probably to east.
