Description


BOWES THE STREET NY 9913 (North side) 33/15 Garden walls, gate piers and gates, 12.1.67 adjoining south front of Bowes Hall GV II Garden walls, pair of gate piers and gates. Mid C18. Squared rubble walls and ashlar piers; mid C19 iron gates.

2.0-metre high flat-coped walls attached to ends of house, run south for about 25 metres. Shorter sections to street are linked to gate piers. Square-plan, 3.5-metre high piers have moulded plinths and single fielded panels to each face. Stepped and corniced caps crowned by stone urns. Gates have alternating bars and dogbars with spear-head finials.
