GV II
Hall, probably originally a farm building. Probably C17 origin, altered circa mid
C19 with some C20 alterations and additions. Slatestone and granite rubble with
stone and brick dressings. Slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends.
Plan: The building is a single room, with entrance at the front and gable end to
right and left. The building is built into the bank at the right end, with a small
C20 addition at the right end. Possibly originally a barn. Unheated.
Exterior: Single storey; at the front there are 3 large late C19 2-light 4-pane
casements. Second from right a C19 plank door with 4-centred arch and brick
surround. There has been rebuilding in the front wall, with former door openings
visible. At the left end there is a blocked opening at the lower level with timber
lintel remaining. At the upper level there is a C19 2-light stone window with cusped
lights and timber lintel. Breather above. At the right end there is a small single
storey C20 lean-to; above there is a blocked opening and breather. Rear blind.
Interior: The walls are plastered and the roof ceiled below the level of the roof
trusses.
