SX 26 SE ST KEYNE

Farmhouse. Possibly early C16 extended in circa early C17, early C18 and mid C19.
Rendered rubblestone and cob with moulded plinth to rear of north range. Rag slate
roof to east slope of right-hand range with scantle slate roof on rear slope.
Right-hand hipped end. Higher scantle slate roof with gable ends to projecting
left-hand range. Projecting rear lateral stack adjoining stair projection on west
and rubblestone stack with slate strings on right-hand gable end of front projecting
range. Plan; right-hand range with wide through passage, blocked to rear. Earlier
part on right now store. Left-hand room with stair projection to rear. Range on
right, single room, extended to rear to form double depth plan circa mid C19. 2
storeys, asymmetrical 4 window east front.
Ground floor, on projecting range on left, part glazed C20 door and C19 2-light
casement with glazing bars. To right, long low range. Ground floor with C19 2-light
casement with glazing bars on left beneath timber lintel. Part glazed C20 door and
2-light casement to right with glazing bars and timber lintel in earlier doorway.
Above, on left, C19 2-light casement and 1-light casement, both with glazing bars.
In store on right, 3 small unglazed circa C16 timber mullioned windows with diamond
mullions. 1 in blocked door opening on front. Others to first floor blocked.
Interior Although removed, holes for joists indicate that the first floor only
continued part way over ground floor. C19 scissor truss roof. To left of cross
passage, C20 fireplace to rear lateral stack. Stone winder stair.
Upper floor and roof not inspected.
Inventory dated 1625 deposited in County Record Office, Turo.
