Estate yard, old forge, saw mill, offices and timber yard. Circa 1880 for the
Earl of Ducie's estate. Rubble; C20 tiled roofs. Long range of buildings in
2 parts; all single storey and attics in gabled dormers. To the left: gabled
projecting porch at far left with two 2-light casement windows in gabled dormers;
central depressed arch carriage entry also under a gable; further plank door to
right; bellcote over east gable. Right range: plank door and 2-light window
at far right. To the rear are 3 ranges of open sheds and workshops, enclosing a
yard: slate and pantile roofs; carriage entry under gable on west range.
5 yards to the north west of the yard is the old forge: L-plan with plain tiled
roof and a projecting lateral stack at the west end. The estate yards forms an
important group with the church, green and the cottages (q.v.).
