St Madern: brass to John Clies, merchant, twice mayor of Penzance, d.1623, & wife Blanche (Trevanion)

He wears a doublet & overgown & ruff, she a large hat, ruff, full skirt over a farthingale.

The marginal inscription reads 'Here lyeth buried the body of John Clies Marchant twice Maior of Penzance who had to wife Blanch the onely daughter of Heugh Trevanion Esq. by whome he had issue one sonne & five daughters and left this life for A better upon ye 27 day of November on ye yere of or Lord God 1623 when he had lived to ye full age of 55 yeares'
