Description

SE2628SW LS27 DAWSON HILL
MORLEY
7/21 Dawson House
and attached
1.9.8.85 warehouse

GV II

House and attached warehouse. Early-mid C19. Dressed stone, stone
slate roofs. 2 storeys. House has 3-bay symmetrical facade: doorway with
monolithic jambs and overlight. Above and to either side 4-pane sash windows
with raised plain surrounds. Widely spaced paired gutter brackets. Coped
gables with stacks. Attached to rear and flush with right-hand return wall
but with lower roof, 5-bay warehouse: central taking-in bay has doorways with
tie-stone jambs to each floor. Cat-head hoist projects from roof above.
Flanking bays have windows with monolithic lintels and projecting sills, all
retaining small-paned glazing except that to 2nd ground-floor bay which is
altered to door. Central brick ridge stack, truncated.

An interesting complete example of a manager's house and warehouse. Prominent
within the town.
