Large Mill Building at Low Mills fronting on to Low Mill Lane

Mill building. Early C19 with late C19 additions. Coursed rubble with ashlar
dressings and slate roofs. North-east street front, 39 bays, 3 storey front. Deep
plinth, quoins, continuous cill bands and brazketted eaves to late C19 sections.
From the east a late C19 18 bay block and a recessed 3 bay gabled block with to the
left a large round headed cart entrance, and then 19 round headed windows with
moulded voussoirs and keystones plus continuous impost band. Above 21 segment
headed windows and above again 2 single windows to the left then 15 pairs of segment
headed windows, and a further pair flanked by single windows in the recessed section
to the right, plus an upper round headed window in the gable. To the right an early
C19 block with an off-centre blocked cart entrance with 5 boarded windows to the
left and 3 partly blocked to the right. Above 10 plain sashes to each of the upper
floors. Beyond to the right a further late C19 block with 2 recessed gabled bays
and 6 bays beyond with similar fenestration to the eastern block. 4 bay north-west
gabled front also has similar fenestration. South-west front, 34 bays, 3 storey,
from the left a 6 bay section then a 2 bay gabled section with raking-in doors, then
a 5 bay section and a projecting 4 bay toilet block with beyond a 16 bay block with
a final single gabled bay over the cart entrance to the south. Many of the windows
to this front are blocked or boarded.
