Early C19. Two storeys. Dressed coursed stone. Wide-spaced gutter-brackets. Stone slab roof with gable copings. One eared sash window with glazing bars to each house. Right hand doorways with matching cases, having jambs with triple flutings and simple segmental pediments. Modern or altered doors. Nos 6 and 8 have a single step with railings of spiral pattern.
Burley Lodge, No 2 (Highway Cottage) and Chevin House, Nos 4 to 16 (even), Nos 24 to 30 (even) and 30A, 2, Post Office Yard, St Mary's Church, wall around ground south of mill pond (along Main Street and west side of Corn Mill Lane), and the Malt Shovel Hotel, form a group.
