Entrance gatepiers and attached walls. Probably aid C18 for Josias
Wordsworth of Wadworth Hall (q.v.). Ashlar magnesian limestone. Gatepiers
set on axis of entrance front of house; convex walls to each side, that on
left linking to West Lodge (q.v.), that on right terminating at end pier
before returning to link to East Lodge (q.v.). Main piers: square-sectioned
with re-entrant corners; moulded plinths, plain shafts with cornices and
moulded cappings. The walls are low and have mushroom-domed copings
(formerly with iron railings). Plain ashlar end pier on right has pyramidal
top.
