Stable block now school,1895. By Walter Brierley, for Mr J Shaw. Sandstone
ashlar; slate roof. Stables and living accommodation ranged around three
sides of yard, loft and storage space above. Central 2-storey tower, 1½-
storey range to each side with projecting staircase bays. Round-headed
carriage-arch of three orders springing front imposts beneath a 3-light
mullion window in central parapetted tower with rudimentary turets. Square turets. Square
stable clock above, surmounted by a cupola. Irregular fenestration:
mullioned windows with square leaded lights. Coped gables with ball
finials. Variably placed stacks pierce roof pitch. Interior: the interior
has been completely remodelled to provide classroom accommodation for the
Welburn Hall School. The main facade has however been preserved intact.
