Includes No 2 (Bank Chambers), Park Street. Built shortly after 1793 on the lines
of Lansdowne Crescent, Bath, by James Audus the elder (1752-1809), a prominent
ship-owner. His son James, an amateur architect, completed The Crescent after
the fathers death. Brown brick. Hipped slate roof. Three storeys. Parapet.
Continuous first floor sill. Twenty-two bays: sashes with glazing bars. The bank
building has a mid C19 ashlar bank front: segment-headed windows (3 to Park Street,
2 to The Crescent) with moulded imposts, voussoirs and keystones, one canted bay
to Park Street, and parapetted hood over door taken on tapering Ionic pilasters
and fluted consoles. No 7 has door with semi-circular fanlight in panelled reveals,
with panelled pilasters, consoles and dentilled pediment. No 10 has late C19 shop-front
with consoles flanking fascia. No 11 has mid C19 shop-front with Ionic capitals
to glazing bars and carved spandrels. Nos 12 and 12A have mid C19 doors with fielded
panels.
