House. Mid C16 with late C18 or early C19 extensions. Painted rendered walls
on squared plinth, under graduated greenslate roof with coped gables; end banded
sandstone chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 5 bays with lower left single-bay
extension and rear outshut. Centre top-glazed 4-panel door in chamfered stone
surround. 2- and 3-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows, those on ground
floor with rounded heads to lights, all under hoodmoulds, the upper ones
continuous. Extension has C20 door and windows. Interior has shallow
segmental-arched stone fireplace and spice cupboard recess. Probable remains of
newel staircase next to this fireplace. Beamed ground-floor ceilings have
principal beams with hollow double chamfer. Another C18 chamfered-surround
stone fireplace. Rear wall, now internal, has firewindow recess. Upper floor
C16 wall painting of a hunting scene uncovered during 1970's restoration and now
preserved under glass. Adjoining barns are not of interest.
