9/20 Birch House

G.V. II

House. C17 re-fronted C18, altered C20. Vitreous and red brick with diaper
pattern between upper windows. Old tile gabled roof. Irregular plan. 2
storeys with flanking chimneys. Road front:- First floor brick string,
boxed wood eaves, 3 bays small sash windows with glazing bars, except left
hand bay on ground floor, a one storey angular bay. Half-glazed central
door with architrave surround and small cornice hood. Interior:- late C17
newel stair with moulded handrail and turned balusters on first floor
landing. Some ground floor beams with chamfers and stopped ends and some
thin framing.
