Farmhouse, now house, enlarged and largely rebuilt early-mid C19; C20 alterations.
Red brick in Flemish bond with grey headers; plain tile roof; brick stacks with
clay pots. 2 storeys with cellar, 4 bays; the building encased in brick and
with added rear range: C20 outshut additions to right bay and right return.
Openings have segmental brick arches. Windows have small-pane casements.
Cusped barge boards and pendants to gables. Entrance elevation: left bay
gabled. Bay 2 has 4-panel door in gabled porch with slatted sides; board door
to bay 4 concealed by C20 outshut which has door and flanking windows in keeping.
2-light window between doors; and on left, canted bay window with dentilled
sill and polygonal roof. On 1st floor windows of 3,3,2 and 2 lights.
Ridge stack to bay 2 and at right end (pots removed); single-flue stack to left
side. Rear: the 2 left bays, under catslide roof have 3-light window and
board door below bracketed pent porch to right bay; 2-light window on left; and
gabled 2-light eaves dormers. Right-hand bays are paired and gabled, with 3-
light stair-window to left bay, and 2-light window to each floor (including
cellar) of right bay. Interior: timber-framing members from the older, lower
building survive in the right-hand bay, particularly on 1st floor; and between
left-hand bays are back-to-back brick fireplaces with curved inner corners,
wooden surround to smaller left-hand fireplace, and wooden bressumer to large
right-hand fireplace. C19 surviving features include panelled doors, cupboards,
shutters (to bay window), floorboards, and stair which has closed string stick
balusters, and columnar newels. The C20 outshut at right end has old 3-light
iron casement window with leading and decorative catches.
