BEENHAM Barn at Field Barn Farm

Barn. Probably 2nd half C18. Timber frame with weatherboard cladding
on high, chamfered red brick plinth. Half-hipped Welsh slate roof.
Aisled, 6 bays, with added outshut to right on south-west side.
Opposing central cart entries with double board doors in hipped-roofed
midstrays; on north-west side of each, 2 doors and a window. East
gable; some old tarred weatherboard survives; board door to hatch in
gable, with bird-hole to its left. Interior; 2 north-western bays
partitioned off; bird left in south-east gable. Frame has jowelled
wall-posts on brick plinth walls braced to arcade plate and tie-beams;
principal rafters with curved secondary rafters/braces up to collars;
clasped through purlins; long raking wind braces; original rafters;
yoked plank ridge-piece; boarded roof. Wall framing has close-set
studs and long raking braces. Some reused timbers.
