4/8 Amner's Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Late C16, extended late C18, altered C19 and late C20. Part
timber framed, part brick with vitreous header patterning in vertical
bands between windows; one gable tile hung. Old tile gabled roofs.
Parallel ridge plan with the earlier build at rear of 2 framed bays.
2 storeys and attics. Flank chimneys on ridge. 5 bay front, plinth,
2 small hipped attic casements, sash windows with glazing bars, those
on the ground floor altered with a later brick arch under the original;
central 6-panelled door with rectangular overlight and C19 gabled porch
with decorative supporting timber posts and truss on dark brick plinth.
On the north side of the house, there is a C19 wrought iron palisade
fence on a small brick plinth with brick piers at each end. 8 bays long
with bell-shape heads between 2 horizontal rails, and scroll supporting
brackets. There is a small entrance gate of similar design between the
3rd and 4th bays from the left.
