ST 66 SW COMPTON DANDO

6/49 Court Hill House

Court house. Early C17, altered. Rubble; pantile roof with lowest 3 courses
of slate; rubble end stacks. 3 irregular storeys. 3 bays: large C20
glazed casements and 16-pane sash windows to centre; all under brick heads and
brick relieving arches. Panelled and glazed door set in C20 gabled porch.
Interior. Dog-leg staircase with turned balusters. C18 panelled doors; in
ovolo moulded surrounds with run-out stops on first floor. The ground floor
left room has double ogee moulded beams with converging stops. The first
floor left room has moulded beams with enriched soffits; enriched frieze with
shield panels supported by gryphons; plaster overmantel with enriched frieze
and pilasters; central panel with cartouche and swags. First floor right
room: studded plank door with S-hinges; wall cupboard with C17 panelling;
moulded mantelshelf. Top floor right room: moulded mantelshelf and cambered
lintel over fireplace.
