9/55 Slipway and bridge over stream
adjoining Fish Cellars, The Platt
GV II
Slipway and small bridge over stream. Possibly C19. Slipway leading down from Fore
Street to harbour of stone rubble, partly constructed of vertically coursed slate
stones with surface to slip partly cement screed. Bridge adjoins on west, over small
stream which flows underneath Fore Street and down between Fish Cellars to west (qv
No 1 Fore Street) and slipway to east into harbour. Stone rubble with dressed stone
round arch.
The life-boat house opposite the slipway on Fore Street was built in 1927 but was
never used and taken out of commission in the same year.
