ST 35 NE BANWELL HILLEND

4/27 Manor Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Early C17. Roughcast, pantile roof, raised coped verges with
kneelers, ashlar stacks. T plan with cross-passage. Southern wing; 2 storey,
2 windows; all windows, 3 and 4 light casements, mainly C17 ovolo moulded timber
some C19 replacements; 4 panel C19 door off centre right under remains of
dripmould behind C19 glazed porch; to right of this another dripmould marks a
blocked staircase window; to right is rear of northern wing; 2 storeys,
1 window under dripmoulds; main (north) elevation has 2 storeys, 4 windows; at
rear of both blocks, irregular fenestration, that to north wing under dripmoulds.
Interior; southern wing has cross passage, deep chamfered stopped beams and
inglenook; northern wing has ogee moulded and stopped beams throughout ground
and first floors; ground floor east room has remains of early C18 plaster cornice;
ground floor west room has C18 shell hood display cupboard; between wings is a
large room with a continuous newel winder staircase in south east corner.
