Terrace of 5 houses. No.185 incorporates No.183. C19 earlier.
Darkened brick with rusticated stucco ground floors.
4 storeys and basements. 2 windows each except No.185 with 4
(formerly 2 houses). Nos 185 and 187, round-arched doorways
with fanlights. Nos 189 and 191, square-headed doorways with
fluted quarter-round columns and cornice-heads, fanlights and
margin lights; No.191 with panelled door. No.187 with C20
Regency style shopfront; No.191 original wooden shopfront with
pilasters carrying projecting entablature with inswept frieze;
projecting, altered shop window. Plain stucco band at 1st
floor level. Gauged brick flat arches to recessed sash
windows; 1st floor with continuous cast-iron balconies.
Parapets.
INTERIORS: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Nos 185 and 189, attached cast-iron
railings with pineapple and spearhead finials respectively to
areas.
HISTORICAL NOTE: No.185 was the home of Giuseppe Mazzini,
Italian patriot (GLC plaque).
