Gate lodge, c.1870 for Brancepeth Estate. Tooled, snecked sandstone with
ashlar dressings. Graduated green slate roof and ashlar chimney stack.
Tudor style. T-plan: 2 storeys, 3 bays, the wide, projecting gabled centre
bay forming leg of T. Flush quoins and string between storeys. Openings in
chamfered surrounds. Pointed doorway in narrow left bay. 2- and 3-light
mullioned windows with side-hung 6-pane casements. Relief of Boyne Arms in
chamfered sunk panel on central gable. Steeply-pitched roof, with coped
gables and shaped footstones, has half hip at left. Tall chimney, with 4
clustered stacks, on projecting ridge.
