Terrace of 3 cottages, possibly one house originally. Circa late C18 or early C19, possibly the remodelling and extensions of an earlier house. Rendered stone rubble, hipped slate roof with red clay ridge tiles, Lilac Cottage has been reclad in asbestos slates land Meadow Views roof has been coated in bitumen. large rendered stacks with slate weathering and tapered tops lateral stack at rear of Lilac Cottage, and axial stack between Rose Mount and Meadow View. Plan: Row of 3 cottages of single depth plan. Rose Mount to the left and Lilac Cottage to the right are of 2 room plan and at the centre Meadow View has a single room plan. Lilac cottage has a lateral stack at the rear and meadow View and Rose Mount share an axial stack with back-to-back fireplaces. The row is possibly the result of late C18 to early C19 remodelling and extension of an earlier house in which case Lilac Cottage to the right would have been the hall (heated from a rear lateral stack) and inner rooms and Meadow View would have been the lower left end and passage; Rose Mount at the left end would therefore have been an addition when the house was converted into cottages. Exterior: 2 storeys long asymmetrical 6-window range (2 windows to each cottage). Circa late C19 2 and 3-light casements with glazing bars Rose Mounts left hand windows and the ground floor right hand window of Lilac Cottage are C20 casements. 3 C20 glazed doors with slate canopies, Meadow Views canopy has been underbuilt to form a porch. The rear elevation was only partly seen. Including garden retaining wall at the front; probably late C18 or C19, mainly limestone and slate rubble; in front of each front doorway there is a gateway containing a flight of steps. Interior: Only the ground floor of Meadow View and Lilac Cottage were seen and no early features were visible. The first floors and roof spaces were not inspected.
