Nos 1 and 2,
Coombe Cottages
II
Shown on OS map as Boarshill. Former farmhouse, now 2 cottages. Probably C18
or earlier. Rendered cob or rubble, exposed rubble at back, corrugated
asbestos-cement roof. In two sections, smaller left half having slightly
shallower roof pitch, back has a lower gabled wing. Two storeys, irregular
fenestration. No 1 has a small 2-light casement far left, then a second
similar, beneath 2-light at eaves. Then a wide blank section of wall, to wide
plank door under small slated hood beneath 2-light with glazing bars. No 2 has,
at ground floor, a small C19 2-light without bars and a C20 casement flanking
C20 gabled porch on wood posts to a panelled door. At first floor a 2-light
with glazing bars, and a C20 casement; the right hand pay probably an added
section, under hipped roof. Large ridge stack at point of change of roof pitch,
left, and right, at former right gable. The back has gabled wing at right end,
various 2-light casements, stair window near left end.
