SX 79 SE CHERITON BISHOP

10/15 Polford Cottages

Pair of cottages. Probably late C18-early C19. Plastered cob on rubble footings;
cob stacks topped with C19 brick; thatched roof. Pair of 2 room cottages
symmetrical about central cob crosswall with small unheated inner rooms with rear
doors to outshots and outer rooms with end stacks. 2 storeys facing east with
string course. Overall 6 window front, 2 each with central door and recessed blind
window above. Small thatch eyebrows over windows and panels. Windows are C19 2-
light casements with 2 panes to left and 6 to right, the top left window both
casements 6-pane. Plain carpentry inside. Both cottages are unrestored.
