Lodge and main gateway to Greystoke Castle. Dated and inscribed H.H. 1846
(Henry Howard). Dressed mixed pink and grey sandstone walls, under graduated
greenslate roof with raised coped gables; ashlar ridge chimney stacks. Single
storey, 2 bays with right gate archway at right-angles. Segmental arch under
Howard coat-of-arms and stepped battlemented parapet. Left smaller pedestrian
doorway. Lodge has front centre plank door in Tudor-arched surround and
flanking 2-light stone-mullioned windows. Left return wall, continuous with the
archway, has angled bay window.
