Farmhouse, formerly the Home Farm for Lorton Hall, now private house,and former
barns. Date of 1666 on previous list description is not now evident but
alterations dated 1738 over rear doorway. Painted roughcast walls on projecting
plinth stones, under graduated greenslate roof with central painted roughcast
chimney stack (gable chimney projection but stack removed). Barn of painted
slate rubble, raised in height, under graduated greenslate roof. 2 storeys,
4 bays with right-angled right barn forming overall L-shape. C20 door in cement
surround under C20 gabled hood. Sash windows with glazing bars, 3 in original
chamfered surrounds, the remainder in enlarged painted stone surrounds. Barn
has C20 plank garage door, left C20 door and right plank door in original plain
slate opening. Interior has inglenook with heck partition and early C18 moulded
stone fireplace. Beamed ceilings in all rooms. Staircase retains some of its
C18 stone steps.
