Houses in handed pair. c 1875. Slate rubble with sandstone and brick dressings
and Lakeland slate roof. Two storeys and attic, three bays to pair. Central
paired doorway with panelled door, that to No. 10 is a replacement, and fanlights
over. These are flanked by single storey canted bays. First floor with paired
window to the centre, single to the sides. Paired gable dormer in centre of
roof. Gable end stacks. Very decorative treatment of wall surface with slate
walls laid surface dry and thin courses. Sandstone quoins, bands and architraves,
window arches in two colours of brick, red and yellow, toothed cornice. Roof
projects on decorative wooden brackets.
