Description


MADRON BOSWARTHEN SW 43 SW 6/136 Farmhouse and adjoining barn at - SW 441331 GV II Farmhouse and adjoining barn. Probably C18, extended in the C19. Granite rubble with granite dressings. Scantle slate roofs. Brick chimneys over the gable ends of the house. Plan: 2 room plan house with wider hall/kitchen left parlour right, and lobby entrance between. In the C19 a pantry or dairy outshut was added behind the parlour and a shippon with storage loft or granary was added at the right-hand end. Front left hand angle between left-hand corner and formerly external stack was filled in, possibly providing an oven. Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 2 window house front with doorway right of middle but central to the fenestration. C19 4-panel door with flush-beaded bottom panels. Small lean-to porch with granite monolithic sides and slate roof. Sashes boarded over. Barn has doorway towards left with window over and ground and first floor windows towards right. Lean-to at right hand end. Interior: not inspected.
