8/157 Langore House and garden walls to
- front and west
II
Mine captain's house, now private house and garden walls to front and left. Circa
mid C19, the rear wing possibly has earlier origins. Stone rubble, slate hung on the
front and left hand side. Slate roof with gable ends. Brick end stacks.
Plan: Central entrance 2-room plan house heated by end stacks with service wing to
rear right and small C20 extension on left hand side of rear wing. The service wing
possibly has C18 origins but has been remodelled in the C20.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window slate hung front with C19 6-panel door
with rectangular C19 traceried fanlight. Two C19 16-pane sashes on ground floor and
three above.
Garden walls to front and on left hand side; probably mid C19, contemporary with the
house, constructed of stone rubble with slate coping.
Interior: Not inspected.
The house was associated with the manganese mine near Langore.
