Cottage ornee. Guest cottage to former Penjerrick house, now a private house. Circa
mid C19. Built for the Fox family. Painted rubble walls, granite sills. Asbestos
slate hipped roof (formerly thatched).
Plan: T-shaped plan. 2 linked reception rooms at the front; stair hall in small
wing at right angles behind the middle.. Original kitchen in the basement under the
reception rooms. Gothic style features.
Exterior: Single storeys over basement plus attic. Unaltered elevations except that
some of the glazing bars and most of the glass in the windows has been replaced in
the C20. Symmetrical 2 window east front (without a doorway). 2-centred arched
windows with corbelled rubble arches. 3-light windows with Perpendicular style
tracery and Y tracery. C20 attic windows are under hipped dormers. Right-hand
(north-north-east) entrance front has window on the left and doorway on the right.
Original arched planked door (with wooden nails arranged in a pattern) in original
moulded frame. Window on the left is the most complete of all the original windows
and has some original coloured leaded glass in the tracery.
Interior: Simple interior has original wooden Gothic style screen with pointed-
arched panelled double doors between the 2 principal rooms and there are shutters
with beaded panels to the window near the doorway. Basement and attic not inspected.
