SW 72 NW MAWGAN-IN-MENEAGE MAWGAN

House. Circa early C19 and circa mid C19. Stucco front to original part otherwise
shale rubble with dressed granite sills, quoins and lintels. Asbestos slate roof
with brick chimneys over gable end of original part, hipped scantle slate roof at
higher level left with brick chimney over side wall and scantle slate roof over
single storey wing, right.
Plan: originally 2 reception rooms flanking passage leading to shallow rear service
rooms within outshut. Extended circa mid C19 with taller 2 storey wing on left hand
side with roof at right angles to main roof and extending to same depth as outshut
and further extended by single storey wing at right hand side.
Two storeys. Overall 4 window south front plus one window single storey wing, right.
Three window front of original house, middle, originally symmetrical with central
doorway but ground floor left hand window deepened C20 and fitted with French
windows. Doorway has similar windows but the other openings have their original 16-
pane hornless sashes except horned replacement to 1st floor left. Mid C19 wing, far
left has taller ground floor window but both are original hornless sashes with
glazing bars.
Interior not inspected.
This house has an important position near the entrance to the church.
