All Hallows Church of Saint Kea
GV II
2 headstones. North stone, 1812, to Edward Woolcock and south stone 1815 to Hopson
Woolcock. Both are slate monoliths with cyma shaped heads.
West facing incised inscriptions in fat face lettering. North stone to Edward son of
Hopson and Mary Woolcock died 1819 aged 52 and south stone to Hopson Woolcock died
1815 aged 54.
The present church, of 1896, replaces a church of 1802 designed by James Wyatt, and
the churchyard dates from then. Very few tomb monuments survive at the earlier
church at Old Kea; so the earlier C19 churchyard monuments in this churchyard, though
modest architecturally, are historically important for this parish.
