4/257 Calciner immediately north of The
- Stamps House
GV II

Arsenic calciner at Wheal Coates Mine, disused. Circa mid-late C19. Slate killas
rubble. Timber lintels. Roofless. Gable ends surviving.
Plan: Rectangular plan of 2 rooms on 2 levels. The higher side room has a complex
of former furnaces.
Exterior: Single storey. Walls survive to the original height, including the 3-gable
ends. South (front) wall has window opening on the left, 2 furnace doorway low down
on the right and a doorway midway above. Rear wall has 2 furnace doorways low down
on the left and a doorway on the right. Left-hand gable end has window on the left.
Right-hand gable end has doorway towards the left.
Interior: has much of the structural remains of its original use including 4
unroofed furnace chambers in the right hand room. There is a niche in the left-hand
wall of the other room.
