3/139 Pound Cottage and The Post Office

Cottage and Post Office. Cottage is dated 1830, extension (now containing the Post
Office) is probably late C19-early C20. Plastered stone rubble; stone rubble or
brick stacks with plastered chimney shafts; thatch roof to cottage, slate to the
extension.
2-room plan cottage facing south-west with central staircase and end stacks, the
left (south-eastern) one projects very slightly. Probably secondary 2-storey
extension to rear. Main cottage is 2 storeys.
Symmetrical 2-window front of replacement horned 16-pane sashes and central C20 door
behind contemporary open porch with hipped thatch roof. Above the porch a Beerstone
plaque is inscribed Porch Cottage, 1830. Roof is hipped each end. Extension has
C20 fenestration.
