Description

TL 51 NE GREAT CANFIELD

2/24 ASHFIELD FARMHOUSE

II

Farmhouse, late C16, altered in C17 and C20, extended in C20. Timber-framed,
plastered, roof tiled. T-plan, with late C16 crosswing of 2 bays at W end,
ceiled in early C17. Hall block substantially rebuilt in C17 and C20.
2 storeys, all windows C20. Crosswing has clasped purlin roof. Very little
framing visible in December 1982. Extensive alteration and modernisation
has adversely affected the historical value of this house; the late C16 crosswing
is still of special architectural and historical interest. RCHM 10.
