Former house and shop, now shop and offices. C18, with later
rear extensions. Timber-framed and rendered; plaintiled roof
with a wooden modillion eaves cornice and 2 flat-headed
dormers.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, attics and cellars. Sash windows to
dormers with a single vertical bar, lead roofs and cheeks. 3
large-paned sash windows to upper storey with hood-moulds and
stucco aprons. A late C20 double shop front to ground storey
which overlaps slightly with No.21 (qv).
INTERIOR: contains no visible original features. The cellars,
separately occupied as a wine bar, run also below No.23 and
former No.24 (qv) and are completely modernised. A large
L-shaped extension at the rear has a mid-C20 part approached
from Lower Baxter Street.
Part of a significant group in Abbeygate Street and included
for group value.
