SW 84 SW KEA COOMBE

2/141 Coombe Cottage

GV II

House. Circa late C18. Painted slatestone rubble with slate sills and wooden
lintels. Corrugated asbestos roof with brick chimneys over gable ends but set back
from ends. Plan of 2 equal rooms flanking central cross passage lead to stair.
2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window south front with central doorway. Circa early C20
glazed gabled porch with shaped bargeboard and marginal panes to door and windows.
Main windows are 16-pane horned sashes.
Interior not inspected but said to be little altered.
Coombe Cottage is shown on late C18 map.
Set in an unspoiled and beautiful valley overlooking Cowlands creek and part of a
group of houses, mostly little altered since built in the C18 and early-mid C19.
