SX 36 NE ST MELLION

8/200 Greenswell Farmhouse
GV II

Farmhouse. Circa C17 or earlier with circa late C18 rear wing and outshuts.
Rubblestone, rendered on right-hand range. Slate roof with gable ends on left and
asbestos slate higher roof to range on right with gable ends. Wing to rear with
slate roof with half-hipped end. Rendered rubblestone stacks on gable ends and rear
lateral stack of rubblestone with brick haft incorporated into rear projecting wing.
3 room and through passage plan. Hall, heated by rear lateral stack. Inner room
heated by right-hand end stack. Lower end with early C17 winder stair in projection
to rear leading off through passage. Circa late C18 projecting stair wing to rear of
higher end. Circa late C18 projecting wing to rear. Service rooms added in circa
late C18 outshuts to rear.
2 storeys with right-hand range partly remodelled . Left-hand side with mid C19 2-
light casement with glazing bars. C20 door with lean-to glazed porch with slate
roof. Two C20 windows to right with glazing bars. 'First floor with mid C19 casement
with glazing bars on left and 2 early C20 3-light casements on right.
Interior C17 stone winder staircase in projection on left of through passage.
Central hall with chamfered ceiling beams with ogee stops. Circa mid C18 cut stone
arch to fireplace of rear lateral stack. Late C18 or early C19 stair in projection
to rear on right. Cambered timber lintel to fireplace in outshut on left. Roof
timber replaced.
