Lodge

Pair of attached lodges, originally said to have been for gamekeepers on the
Port Eliot estate, now pair of houses. Mid C19 with some late alterations.
Slatestone rubble with limestone dressings. Slate roof with ridge tiles and
gable ends with raised coped verges.
Plan: Pair of attached lodges, each of 2 room plan, arranged in an L plan
with No. 1 to front and No. 2 to rear. Asymmetrical Gothic style, similar to
Penmadown Lodge (q.v.).
Exterior: 2 storeys, No. 1 has gabled porch to left with 4-centred arched
limestone doorway with hood mould, 2-pane light with hood mould to left.
Ground floor right 2-light casement with hood mould. First floor has 2
gabled dormers, each with 2-light limestone casement with hood mould.
Attached to right a single storey C20 addition. Left side gable end has
canted bay with cornice at ground floor with 2-light casement to front and
single lights to sides, C20 glazing. First floor has 3-light casement with
hood mould.
No 2 is to rear left, also of 2 storeys; gabled porch with similar doorway
and C20 door, small C20 addition to left of porch. Ground floor to left has
square bay with 3-light casement and cornice, first floor has gabled dormer
with 2-light casement and hood mould. Rear gable end of No. 2 has external
stack.
At the right side, the gable end of No. 1 has two 2-light casements with hood
moulds at first floor. No 2 has central recessed door with 4-centred arch
and hood mould, 2-light casement with hood mould to right and left and
similar 2-light casements in gabled dormers at first floor, to right and
left. The rear forms the front entrance of No. 2.
