3/83 Mere covert cottage

II


House. Late C17. Timber-framed with brick infill and red English
garden wall bond brick and slate roof. 2 storey, 2 cell, baffle entry
plan. Entrance front of 9 x 2 cells of small framing with angled and
tension bracing of corners and centre. Door to right of centre with
3-light casements to left and 2-light casement to right. 2-light
casement to first floor left. Right hand gable end of 6 x 2 bays of
small framing with 2 2-light casements to centre at first floor level.
Collar and queen struts to gable. Left hand gable end has C19 outshut
at ground floor level with clapboarded gable. Rear facade has C18
brickwork with doorway to right of centre with 2 2-light casements to
ground floor and one 2-light casement to first floor.
Interior: Chamfered ceiling beams to parlour. Wind-braced roof.
