Stable block. c1850. By Thomas Baker of Highfield. Red Flemish bond
brick with a slate roof. Single and two storeys. Open courtyard
plan. Courtyard front: Central 2-storey spinal range to rear with
gabled single storey wing at right and gabled Single and 2-storey wing
at left. Central slightly projecting bay with wide basket-arched
entrance to the ground floor with voussoirs of gauged brick within
which is a central door with single-light windows to either side.
Above at first floor level is a loft door with a gable over and a
weather vane to the summit. To either side at ground floor level are
2-light casement windows with stone sills and flat-arched brick
lintels. The first floor has two cross windows at left with stone
sills and to the right are a loft door and cross window at left and
right respectively. The single storey wing at right has 4 basket-
arched carriage doorways with gauged brick voussoirs. This item is
included for group value.
