Hill Farm Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, 1843, for 2nd Marquis of Westminster. Squared red
sandstone rubble walls with 2 graded grey slate parallel roofs (gables
to ends). 2 storey 4 window front with (probably replacement) wood
casements to lower storey at left and upper storey. Modern altered
windows to lower storey, right. Originally 4 red brick chimneys with
diagonal flues on sandstone plinths (1 missing). Weathered sandstone
parapets to gables with shaped kneelers. Projecting gabled porch,
left of centre, with door to left side and window to front. Front
door of 6 flush panels.
Interior: Not inspected.
The farmhouse and farm buildings (q.v.) are a little-altered example
of the new farmsteads built as part of the 2nd Marquis' agricultural
improvements.
